5 Months Old

The first picture was taken around 1 week old, the second just a few days ago.  What a difference 5 months makes!

What a Laugh!

(The "15 minutes" I say in the video refers to how long Tommy had until he reached our goal of staying up 2.5 hours after his feeding.  He normally can only stay away 1.5 hours before he starts getting sleepy, but today for some reason he really didn't want to nap!  He wasn't fussy or anything, just really awake.)

Sitting Up!

For the past week or so, Tommy has been practicing sitting up.  The longest he can stay up is a minute at the most, but he's getting better!

A Meeting of the Moms

Today I met two other moms that are members of the October 2006 iVillage message board I've been with since I found out I was pregnant this time last year.  We met at Stanford Shopping Mall in Palo Alto, which was absolutely teeming with beautiful flowers.  Since we all live in the Bay Area, we decided to get together and finally meet each other and our children.  I met Natalie and her Anna - a very peaceful and pensive baby who was content to look around and take everything in; and Lisa and her Owen, who Tommy took a liking to and whose hand almost ended up in Tommy's mouth.  It was nice to talk to other moms, particularly whose babies were born the same month as Tommy.  It's amazing that 3 babies born the same month could be of such different proportions and dispositions.

Do You Think We're Teething?

Img_3402_2

Tommy has been teething in earnest the past few days.  We can feel two little sharp points in his gums.  Instead of the peaceful, happy baby we're used to, we have a little boy who wakes up at 2 AM screaming and who wakes up early from naps inconsolable.  We're using baby Orajel, Hyland's teething tablets, and baby Tylenol (not all at the same time), not to mention frozen wet rags and teething rings.  These seem to help a bit, but he still goes through long periods when he's in a lot of pain.  On the bright side, when this is all over, we'll have two cute bottom teeth!
